Transfers
Please speak to your employer about getting a transfer before contacting the office.
If the work on your farm runs out before the end of your work period, Concordia may be able to transfer you to another farm. However, this is not guaranteed and will depend both on the vacancies elsewhere and whether your farmer recommends you as being a hard worker. You must not ask for a transfer just because you want to move or are not earning as much as you would like to earn; you have made a commitment to the farm you are booked to work on.
To qualify for a transfer you must have permission and approval from your employer. This means that you must first speak to your farm manager about this. If they have been pleased with your performance on the farm and they no longer need you to work they will help you to fill in a 'transfer request form'. You will have the opportunity to write the names of any friends you would like to be transferred with and which farm you would prefer to work at. This is not a guarantee that you will go to this farm. This form will then be sent to Concordia and we will put you on a transfer waiting list.
We will then do our best to find you a new work placement. This is not guaranteed and you may end up having to go home. If and when we find you a work placement the details of this will be sent to your employer. You will then have the chance to accept the transfer and it will be arranged at the Concordia office. All transfers are free for Concordia members, non members will be charged £32.50.
Please note: if your employer needs you to stay and work on the farm then Concordia will not offer you a transfer. You will only be transferred if your employer agrees to it or there have been circumstances outside of their control i.e. the work has finished early.
UK work placements available
Concordia has placements on farms in the UK starting between now and mid-June. If this is of interest to you and you have working rights in the UK, then please e-mail students@concordia-
ysv.org.uk with your name, date of birth, contact details and the dates you are available.
We regret that if you are a Romanian or Bulgarian national, all our SAWS work cards for 2008 have been allocated and we will not be able to offer you a placement.
